ACCA and IMA are working together to deliver a new strategy for the global profession centred on financial leadership and performance.

ACCA, as the global body for professional accountants, and IMA, the world’s largest and most respected US-based association focused exclusively on the management accounting profession, represent between us 653,000 members and students (exam candidates), with a global network of 89 offices and centres. Additionally, IMA has a volunteer network of over 200 local chapters and councils supported by staff at its global headquarters.

The collaboration is based on a seamless recognition agreement that demonstrates a commitment to offering qualifications with clear commitments to producing ethically, reputable members.

Both organisations understand the issues and drivers of success for the CFO and the finance team. Over the last year, ACCA and IMA have worked to make the aspirations of the CFO a reality and for those who are CFOs to deepen their knowledge of the challenges and opportunities for them.

What has become clear through our extensive research is that finance leaders require a unique and complex set of skills and capability. These include substantial expertise in performance accounting and wider financial management and leadership – areas in which our qualifications provide an ideal foundation.
